In high school field hockey: Tigers, Eagles claim wins

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school field hockey action in the latter half of last week, Mount Abraham continued its recent winning ways; Middlebury split two games, including claiming its first victory; and Otter Valley suffering its first two setbacks.
On Wednesday Mount Abe defeated host Colchester, 3-1, as three Eagles scored, Jalen Cook andHannah Wahl in the first half and Jackie Reiss after the break. The Eagles improved to 3-2 with the Division I road win, their third straight victory, while the Lakers dropped to 1-3-1.
On Wednesday, host  Mt. Mansfield topped the Tigers, 5-1, despite 21 saves from goalie Bridget Audet. Alexis Bartlett scored for the Tigers against the 2-2 Cougars.
On Saturday, the Tigers defeated visiting Burlington, 4-2, to break into the win column at 1-3. Lily Smith scored three times to spark MUHS, Kiana Plouffe added the fourth score, and Calista Carl and Bartlett chipped in assists. Audet stopped five shots as the Tigers improved to 1-3, while Devin Libby made 11 saves for the 2-4 Seahorses.
In a Wednesday showdown between undefeated teams and defending champions, visiting D-III Bellows Falls edged the Otters, 3-2, in overtime. BF’s Madison Streeter tallied at 7:51 in OT, after the Terriers had knotted the score with 4:56 left in regulation. Allison Lowell andLivia Bernhardt, off a Lowell assist scored for OV, and goalie Myliah McDonough made eight saves. Terrier goalie Emma Lober made one save.
On Saturday, host Marble Valley League rival Woodstock knocked off the Otters, 2-0, in a defensive battle. The Wasps held a 4-3 edge in shots on goals and scored twice in the first half. McDonough made one save, and Ellie Ross also played in goal for OV and made one stop as the Otters dropped to 4-2. Molly Henne worked a three-save shutout for the 5-1 Wasps.
