ADDISON COUNTY — On Sept. 18 at around 3:25 p.m. Vermont State Police responded to a Richville Road home in Shoreham for a report of a motor vehicle incident.
Dean Hawthorne told police that he heard a loud noise and then a large tire that was on fire travelled through his house causing structural damage. No one was injured.
Troopers investigated and report that a farm vehicle driven by 20-year-old Raymond Germain of Bristol had a mechanical failure. A driver’s side rear tire on the 1994 International tractor-trailer Germain was operating had come off the axel and the tire travelled off of the roadway and went crashing through a window on the east side of the residence, causing extensive damage to the wall and living space within the home.
No charges were filed.
In other recent activity, troopers:
•  On Sept. 13 began investigating a burglary at a home off Route 30 in Sudbury. The Middlebury owner of the home told police that sometime between Sept. 6 and 13 someone removed the padlock form the garage and took a Cub Cadet riding lawnmower. Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact Vermont State Police in Rutland at 802-773-9101.  Information can also be submitted anonymously online at www.vtips.info or by texting “CRIMES” (274637) to Keyword:  VTIPS.
•  On Sept. 13 responded to 716 Hunt Road in New Haven where the property owner reported that around 50 people were trespassing and surrounding excavating equipment used to build a Vermont Gas Systems natural gas pipeline.
Troopers informed the protestors that the legal landowner wanted them to vacate his property within 30 minutes. Twelve protestors decided to stay past the allotted 30-minute time and were subsequently arrested for unlawful trespass. One protestor was also charged with resisting arrest when he stopped walking and sat on the ground while he was being escorted from the property.
The protestors delayed the project for approximately three and one half hours.

•  On Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. received a report that a car had run into a house on Rockydale Road in Bristol. Troopers along with officers from the Bristol Police Department responded to the scene. After a short investigation police said they determined that Richie Montani, 51, of Bristol was under the influence of drugs when the 2001 Jeep Cherokee he was driving struck the house. No one was injured, but the Cherokee was a total loss. Police cited Montani for driving under the influence of drugs.
