VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with a variety of cases between Sept. 12 and 18, including domestic assault, several incidents involving alcohol, and one including probable theft and vandalism.
In those seven days, Vergennes police:
•  On Sept. 12 cited Scott P. Murray, 38, of Vergennes for domestic assault at a First Street home. Police allege Murray struck a woman in the household in a dispute over a cellphone, causing her to fall and hit her head on a porch.
•  On Sept. 12 stood by while an American Legion employee left work for the night after an earlier complaint that a man had threatened her when told his application for membership had been denied and he had been banned from the premises.
•  On Sept. 13 went to a New Haven Road office, where a client was experiencing emotional issues; police arranged for the man to be taken to the Counseling Service of Addison County in Middlebury.
•  On Sept. 13 and 14 helped three car owners get into locked vehicles on South Maple and Second streets.
•  On Sept. 14 tried on behalf of Family Court to serve relief-from-abuse orders on two city residents, but could not find them.
•  On Sept. 14 went to Addison to back up Vermont State Police at a family fight.
•  On Sept. 15 picked up a loose dog on Panton Road and took it to the Vergennes Animal Hospital.
•  On Sept. 15 checked out a report of a suspicious man on Sunset Drive and discovered he was staying at one of the homes.
•  On Sept. 15 helped a motorist with a disabled car on Main Street.
•  On Sept. 15 went to the Eagles Club on New Haven Road to check a report of a woman slumped over the steering wheel of a pickup truck; police woke her up and she said she was just tired and napping, and she drove home.
•  On Sept. 16 checked out a report of a suspicious man behind the South Water Street preschool, but found no one.
•  On Sept. 16 were told a car was seen veering off South Maple Street and hitting two plants before heading off southward; police said they have identified the car owner and likely driver and are still working on this case.
•  On Sept. 16 dealt with a minor two-car accident at the intersection of Main Street and Macdonough Drive.
•  On Sept. 16 began investigating a report of a violation of a relief-from-abuse order.
•  On Sept. 17 went to Old Hollow Road on behalf of state police to check out a report of a man stepping out of cars and making obscene gesture, but found no one.
•  On Sept. 17 took a report from a city resident that two bicyclists had cut him off by not honoring a stop sign.
•  On Sept. 17 calmed a dispute among Second Street neighbors.
•  On Sept. 17 took a report that a woman had lost her cellphone in the Small City Market parking lot.
•  On Sept. 18 were told in a 911 call that there was a drunken female Northlands Job Corps student on campus, but learned she was not drunk, but upset with Northlands security for not calling the rescue squad for a minor ailment.
•  On Sept. 18 went to Middlebury to pick up a man who had been processed for drunk driving there because his wife was home with young children.
•  On Sept. 18 received two calls that a woman was drunk and yelling about Jesus near St. Peter’s Catholic Church on South Maple Street; police found her and arranged for a ride to take her home.
•  On Sept. 18 accepted a Macintosh laptop computer that a resident said had fallen off a vehicle at the intersection of Green and Main streets and returned it to its owner.
•  On Sept. 18 took a report from a South Maple Street resident that her “Black Lives Matter” sign was missing and latticework on her porch had been damaged.
