Tiger eleven tops Mount Anthony on the road

BENNINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School football team opened with a convincing Division I road win on Friday, 49-23 over Mount Anthony.
The Tigers will head out on the road again this week, but on the other direction on Route 7: They have a date with BFA-St. Albans at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Bobwhites opened this past weekend by edging Rice, 20-18.
The Patriots scored first this past Friday, but the Tigers took control with 6-yard touchdown run from fullback Spencer Carpenter and a 15-yard TD catch by Doug DeLorenzo in the first quarter and a 10-yard scoring run from Carpenter early in the second period that made it 20-7.
Quarterback Andrew Gleason and halfback Trey Kaufmann also ran for scores for the Tigers. Gleason’s 22-yard run at 9:35 of the third quarter made it 33-16.
