Eagle football falls to Burlington at home
BRISTOL — The Mount Abraham-Vergennes cooperative football team dropped its Division II home opener on Saturday, 49-16, to Burlington High School.
The Eagles will hope to bounce back this week in the program’s first Friday night game. The program is renting lights for a 7 p.m. contest vs. perennial D-II contender Bellows Falls and hopes to draw a good crowd for the inaugural evening contest.
On this past Saturday, Kevin Garrison rushed for four scores and scored a fifth on a punt return to pace the Seahorses, who took a 28-6 halftime lead.
The Eagles scored on Devon Kimball’s 75-yard kickoff return and on quarterback Coleman Russell’s 51-yard run.
