Bernie to speak at progressive party cookout

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury town green next Monday will be the site of the Labor Day Political Revolution Party, an event at which Sen. Bernie Sanders is expected to attend.
Held annually on Labor Day, the cook-out this year will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Rights & Democracy, a local grassroots organization whose stated goal is to fight to “bring the political revolution home and support candidates across Vermont who will move this agenda in Montpelier.”
Organizers said the cookout, slated to take place from 4-7 p.m. on Sept. 5, will also celebrate Our Revolution, a national group launched last Wednesday in Burlington to push Sanders’s progressive agenda forward on environment, social justice, healthcare, the economy and more by supporting candidates and issues all across the country.
Progressive leaders and candidates will speak about their plans for a political revolution and key issues like livable wages, universal healthcare and environmental justice.
Music will be provided by the Bob MacKenzie Band and Julie Winn. At least two vendors have signed up to sell food.
For more information on this even, which is free and open the public, contact Ellen Oxfeld at [email protected] or 802-388-7214.
