Vergennes Day road races welcome all
VERGENNES — From the speediest runners to most pedestrian walkers and everyone in between is invited to join the 5K and 10K races at Vergennes Day this coming Saturday morning.
The 35th annual Vergennes Day Race is a great way to kick off the day and to support a local charity.
The 5K run and walk will take you through city streets, finishing at the City Green. It’s a great opportunity for friends and family to get out and participate in a fun-filled and healthy event.
There will also be a 10K run for more serious runners, which includes a challenging hill climb on Route 66 at the 3-mile mark.
Both courses have been wheel-measured, so you can feel confident that the distances are accurate.
Organizers are hoping for a large turnout of runners and walkers this year, so those interested in taking part are urged to register online — not only will they assure themselves a spot on the starting line but they will also save $5. To register, head to https://register.chronotrack.com/r/22365 or follow the link on the vergennes.org website. The entry fee for adults for both the 5K (3.1 mile) and 10K (6.2 mile) races is $20 when registering online, for youths the fee is $10. Add $5 if you register on race day.
Registration on Race Day starts at 8 a.m. at the Steven’s House adjacent to the City Green in Vergennes. All races start at 9 a.m. Those planning to register on the day of the race, are asked to register no later than 8:30 a.m. (If you want a race T-shirt, it is highly recommend you register online.)
This year, our race will benefit Sweet Charity, a local downtown Vergennes non-profit. The more folks who show up, the larger the donation!
