Police find dog hanging from tree

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police are seeking the public’s help in solving a suspected animal cruelty case, involving a dog that was found hung from a tree in a wooded area off Route 125 East on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Police said the dog was a black and white border collie. Police found the animal at around 11 a.m., hanging in what they described as a wooded area off the road.
At this point, authorities are not sure how the dog died, suggesting it could have been struck and killed by a car prior to being hung. The dog was not wearing a collar, according to police.
Anyone who has recently lost a collie, or who might have details about this case, is asked to call Middlebury police at 388-3191 and ask for Officer Donald Sweet.
