Town issues statement on town office scuffle

Posted by the town of Middlebury on its Facebook page on Tuesday, Aug. 9:
“At approximately 8:30 this morning a confrontation took place at the Middlebury Town Offices over a dispute between a town employee and another individual.  No one was seriously injured and the police were called to the scene immediately. A police investigation is under way and the town will be conducting an internal inquiry into the incident, as well. The town of Middlebury takes the safety of both its employees and members of the public very seriously and we will continue to cooperate with authorities to gain a full understanding of today’s events. The town will release additional information as circumstances warrant.”
