Opinion: Minter and Ram are best choices on the Aug. 9 ballot

We encourage our neighbors to join us in supporting Sue Minter for governor and Kesha Ram for lieutenant governor in the Democratic primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Sue has taken a strong and courageous stand on sensible gun regulations, spurred by her concern about the role of guns in domestic violence. She demonstrated her managerial skills as the head of Vermont’s second-largest department, the Agency of Transportation. There she introduced innovative and cost saving practices that are helping to speed improvements to our transportation infrastructure. She has valuable experience as a legislator in her four terms in the Vermont House and as a crisis manager in her role as Irene recovery officer.
Kesha Ram has also served in the Vermont Legislature for eight years, where she has been an energetic advocate for worker-friendly employment policies, green job creation, expansion of educational opportunity from pre-school through higher education, and helping low income Vermonters help themselves out of poverty. Kesha is the public engagement specialist for the city of Burlington Community and Economic Development Office.
It’s time to put these two capable women into the top leadership positions in Vermont. Sue Minter and Kesha Ram are the best-qualified candidates for the offices they seek.
