Opinion: Dunne’s strengths are numerous

We write in support of Matt Dunne for governor. In our view, he has exactly the talents and positions needed at this critical moment in Vermont’s history. For years now, he has been thinking hard about the environment, and he’s been front and center with ideas, acknowledging that “climate change will fundamentally harm our economy.” His detailed plans for energy efficiency, and the development of solar and heat pump technology, make him an obvious fit for a state that has been at the forefront of the environmental movement.
Matt has been fighting for universal health care, and he’s got a grand vision for overcoming poverty in Vermont by making a $200 million investment in affordable housing and raising the minimum wage to $15, among other proposals. Matt’s leadership skills have been honed in the public sector during his time at Americorps and while working in the private sector working for Google, making him a practical visionary, someone who can actually get things done. And he remains a bold progressive, dedicated to social justice and economic equality.
We hope that Vermonters see the real strengths in Matt, and vote for him in the primary in August as well as the election in November.
