Opinion: Sheldon listens, keeps goal in mind

I am proud to support Amy Sheldon’s campaign for re-election to the Vermont House of Representatives.
When I first ventured into issue activism a year ago, I reached out to Amy, who generously agreed to meet with me and talk in-depth about cannabis legalization policy. Amy listened carefully, asked tough questions and did not rush to judgment — all critical traits for an effective legislator. But because Amy cares deeply about helping constituents, she went above and beyond the official job duties, and gave me excellent advice on how to navigate state house politics and be a more effective advocate.
Though my advocacy work, I’ve come to learn firsthand that many in Montpelier view Amy as an up-and-coming leader. Particularly now, on the heels of the retirement of a long-serving representative, we need Amy’s dedication, experience and ability to command the respect of her legislative colleagues in order to advance Middlebury’s interests.
Please join me in voting to re-elect Amy Sheldon in the August 9 Democratic primary.
Dave Silberman, Esq.
