BTC edges Vergennes Champs

VERGENNES — On July 7, visiting Burlington Tennis Club rallied past the host Vergennes Champs swim team in the freestyle events to nip their hosts, 255-237.
The Champs held the lead for most of the night and led, 170-162, heading into the individual free races. BTC won six of 10 of those events to edge ahead, 213-209, and then cemented its win by prevailing in six of the 10 free relays.
Leah Croke won three 12-and-under girls’ races and Nathan Viera claimed three U-14 boys’ events to pace the Champs.
Another trio of Vergennes swimmers won two races apiece, Will Clark, Hadley Harris and Nathan Viera.
Madelyn Giroux, Allison Croke, Adam Clark, Anna Rakowski, Olivia Hawkins, Calder Rakowski and Sadie Kass each were first to the wall in one event.
