Learn about the history of local boatbuilding on Wednesday
ADDISON — Come to the Chimney Point State Historic Site in Addison on Wednesday, June 29, at 7 p.m. when Douglas Brooks will give an illustrated program titled “From Skiffs to Sail Ferries: The Story of Vermont’s Small Boat Traditions.”
Brooks, a Vergennes resident, will share his extensive research on historic boatbuilding traditions in Vermont and his work recreating some of these historic vessels.
The program is free and a Vermont Humanities Council Speakers Bureau program.
Attendees are invited to share their information and stories with Brooks.
The Chimney Point State Historic Site is located at 8149 Route 17, at the foot of the Lake Champlain Bridge. The building is a circa 1785 historic tavern that became a summer resort in the late 1800s.
