MUHS’s Farrell named top AD

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Union High School Activities Director Sean Farrell was honored last month by the Vermont State Athletic Directors’ Association (VSADA), which named Farrell its Large School Athletic Director of the Year.
Farrell, who has coordinated sports and other extracurricular activities at MUHS for more than a decade, serves on many VSADA committees and coordinates both the Vermont Hockey and Vermont Interscholastic Football leagues.
In announcing Farrell’s honor last week to the UD-3 school board, MUHS Principal Bill Lawson also noted Farrell has “taken a strong leadership role” as Vermont has, among other things, moved to computerized scheduling of athletic events and put into place mandatory safeguards to curtail practices and games in excessive heat.
Lawson, citing Farrell’s “exceptional work ethic,” said VSADA made a good choice in honoring the MUHS AD.
“Sean truly deserves this award because of his work,” Lawson said. “Students at MUHS and throughout the state of Vermont benefit from these and other initiatives.”
