Book-binding workshop at Bixby to start this weekend
VERGENNES — Bixby Library in Vergennes will offer a five-part book-binding workshop series beginning Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The workshops, led by Jill Abilock, will explore the basic skills on which book-binding is founded, and participants will finish each session with at least one elegant book structure. The series is designed to function as a progressive whole, but participants may sign up for single sessions.
The first session will look at soft-covered books. Subsequent sessions will cover the accordion structure, hardcover Coptic books and traditional case-bound hardcover books. The first four sessions will be at the Bixby Library, and the final session will be at Abilock’s Six Loons Studio in Shelburne.
A small fee for each workshop will cover the cost of materials. Space is limited and registration and payment are required. Questions and requests for registration forms should be directed to Muir Haman, the Bixby’s Adult Services librarian at 802-877-2211, ext. 208, or [email protected].
