Local boys’ lacrosse ousted as season ends
ADDISON COUNTY — The local boys’ lacrosse season came to a close on Friday, when the Vergennes, Mount Abraham and Middlebury squads all lost road playoff games.
COMMODORES
Host No. 2 Hartford ousted No. 3 VUHS, 13-9, in a Division III semifinal played under the lights on Friday night. Tyler Crowningshield led VUHS with four goals and two assists. Max Ratti-Bicknell (three goals), Tyler Kepes (goal and two assists), Brett Woods (goal) and Lathrop Brownell (assist) also contributed to the attack.
Goalie Broc Clark finished with 12 saves for the 9-7 Commodores, who posted the program’s first winning record. Hartford goalie Chris Dovain stopped 11 shots.
TIGERS
In a rematch of the 2015 D-I final, top-seeded defending D-I champion Champlain Valley (14-1) defeated MUHS for the third time this spring, this time in a quarterfinal in Hinesburg, 11-4.
Jack Hounchell, Jack Donahue, Jake Peluso andAli Abdul-Sater each had a goal for the Tigers, and Hounchell also set up a score. The young Tigers finished at 9-9.
EAGLES
In another D-III semifinal, top-seeded host Stratton Mountain ousted No. 4 Mount Abe, 11-5. Stratton’s Mike Fischer scored five times. Details on the Eagles’ performance were not available. Mount Abe finished above .500 at 8-7.
