Middlebury to fill new staff positions

MIDDLEBURY — At their May 10 meeting, the Middlebury selectboard approved the job descriptions of two new positions that will be added to the municipal staff later this year.
The first is an “Assistant Zoning Administrator/Development Review Board Coordinator.” This person would work under Jennifer Murray, the town’s director of planning and zoning. The hire would, among other things, provide customer assistance on zoning questions, receive development applications, write DRB meeting agendas and minutes, and conduct site inspections.
The second position is a “Public Works Operations Director.” This person’s responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day operations at the public works department. The new hire will also be responsible for facilities maintenance and management, workplace safety and compliance, and employee training and development.
Plans now call for the new positions to be advertised, according to Selectwoman Donna Donahue, a member of the town’s Personnel Committee.
