Over 100 students compete in ANeSU DCF tournament
BRISTOL — The 5-Town Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Tournament took over the Mount Abraham Union High School library on the morning of Monday, April 11. Excitement was high. There were over 100 students participating this year, with 10 from Bristol Elementary School.
Upper elementary students from Bristol, Beeman, Robinson, Lincoln and Monkton were on mixed-school teams. Team members met together on the morning of the tournament.
During the tournament, teams answered “Jeopardy!”-style questions about 15 of the 30 Dorothy Canfield Fisher nominee books from 2015-2016. I am proud of their dedication and the extra reading they did to get ready for the tournament. The students knew their books and answered some tough questions, and teams worked together well, even though they had just met. There were 14 teams named for the 14 counties in Vermont. The winning team, “Addison County,” scored 15,000 points.
