Shoreham library open house slated for May 15
SHOREHAM —Shoreham’s Platt Memorial Library is celebrating the dedicated work of nearly 60 volunteers with an open house and reception on Sunday, May 15, from 4 to 6 p.m.
As part of the reception, the library will unveil its newly renovated Vermont Room and kick off a summer-long fundraising raffle for a painting by Shoreham artist Deb Holmes.
In 2015, 57 volunteers contributed more than 600 volunteer hours to the Platt Memorial Library. Volunteers baked pies and raised money at Shoreham’s Apple Fest; assisted with programs and crafts during the popular summer reading program; sorted, priced and arranged books for the library’s Basement Book Sale; assisted with shelving and circulating books; and helped with many more tasks associated with running the library.
“The smooth running of our library depends on the help of our local community,” said librarian Abby Adams. “We are so lucky to have so many willing, talented, and tireless volunteers at the Platt. I don’t think we could ever thank them enough, but we’re looking forward to celebrating them at this special event.”
