Local builder makes cover of ‘New England Home’
MIDDLEBURY — Cambium Construction, a design-build company owned by Chris and Jill Stackhouse of Middlebury, is featured on the cover the May-June 2016 issue of New England Home magazine, based in Boston.
New England Home is dedicated to showcasing the unique architecture and superior design that define the luxury homes in New England. This elegant oversized magazine is filled with lush color photography, expert design advice, and insightful interviews that showcase the area’s most talented design professionals.
Cambium’s renovation project is featured on the cover and in an article called “Updated Classics.” The project, located in New Haven, was designed by Mitra Samimi-Urich, owner & designer at Mitra Design Studios in Bristol. The project was phased over three years as to allow the owners, who live in Hong Kong, to enjoy their summers and the holidays in Vermont without any disruption.
Besides the beautiful transformations, the home reaches “Near Zero Energy” building levels of efficiency due to its geothermal heating and cooling system, triple-glazed German windows and attention to insulation and air sealing, which can be a challenge in an existing older property.
