Town-by-town Green Up coordinators named

ADDISON COUNTY — Last year more than 21,000 Vermonters in all 255 municipalities helped to pick up more than 200 tons of trash statewide for the 2015 Green Up Day.
In Addison County, volunteers from Addison through Whiting helped pick up more than 20 tons of trash, including 302 tires; 29 computers, CD players and televisions; 10 appliances; three propane cylinders and one oil filter, according to the Addison County Solid Waste Management District’s trash tally.
A Vermont first-Saturday-in-May tradition since 1970, this year’s Green Up Day will be this coming Saturday, May 7.
The following is a town-by-town listing of Green Up Day activities around the county, as compiled by ACSWMD. For more information, call the town Green Up coordinator listed below.
Addison. Volunteers can contact organizer Starr Phillips for bags and to coordinate cleanup areas on local roads. The town dump truck will be parked behind the Addison Community Baptist Church at the intersection of Routes 17 and 22A to receive trash bags from the evening of May 7 through the morning of May 9. Bridport. Bags are available in the town clerk’s office during regular hours. Dump trucks will be at the town clerk’s office during Green Up weekend for folks to drop off bags. Coordinator: Bridport Town Clerk Valerie Bourgeois, 758-2483.
Bristol.  Bags are available May 2 through May 6 at the town clerk’s office, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Bags are available on Green Up Day at the town green, 8 a.m.-noon. Bags can be left along curbsides on Green Up Day or brought to the former town landfill on Pine Street. Coordinator: Dave Rosen, 453-5655.
Cornwall.  Bags are available at the town hall, this Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Trucks will be parked at Bingham Memorial School from Friday evening through Monday morning, May 6-9, to drop off bags. Coordinator: Sue Johnson, 462-2775.
Ferrisburgh. Bags are available at the town clerk’s office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Green Up Day at the Ferrisburgh Central School parking lot, 9-10 a.m. Bag drop-off is at the town garage sand pile (across from the new garage) on Green Up Day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Coordinator: Deb Healy, 475-2944.
Goshen. Bags will be handed out door to door or can be picked up at the town office. Trucks will pick up bags left on the side of the road on Saturday. A barbecue for volunteers will be held at the town office parking lot, rain or shine, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Coordinator: David Sabatini, 247-6350.
Granville. Bags will be available at the Moss Glen Grange Hall, 82 Post Office Hill Road, on Green Up Day, starting at 8 a.m. and should be returned to the grange hall. Refreshments for volunteers will be provided all day. Coordinator: Danial Sargeant, 349-5774.
Hancock. Bags will be available at the Hancock Town Hall on Green Up Day, starting at 8 a.m., and should be returned by noon. A lunch for volunteers will be held at the town hall at noon. Coordinator: Jack Ross, 767-9157.
Leicester. For information, call Coordinator Kate Briggs at 247-5305.
Lincoln. Bags can be picked up all week at the Lincoln General Store during regular business hours. On Green Up Day, bags can be picked up at the fire station, 8-11 a.m. A Volunteer Appreciation Picnic will be held at the fire station, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be a raffle for kids (must be present to win). Coordinator: Dawn Mikkelson, 453-7029.
Middlebury. Bags can be picked up at the town office, Ilsley Public Library, Otter Creek Brewery and at the town garage on Route 7. Drop-off for bags at the town garage, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Coordinator: Peg Martin, 388-7697.
Monkton. Bags will be available at the Monkton Town Hall Monday through Friday, during regular business hours, and on Green Up Day, 8 a.m.-noon. Drop off bags at the town garage May 7 or 8 in the designated areas marked with Green Up signs. Coordinator: Janet Kimball, 453-2675.
New Haven. Pick up bags on the town green (across from the Village Green Market and the New Haven Congregational Church) on Green Up Day, 9-11 a.m. Tied Green Up bags should be put on the side of the road for the crew to pick up. Residents are encouraged to report any dumping sites. Coordinator: Suzy Roorda, 453-5978.
Orwell. Bags can be picked up Monday through Saturday at Buxton’s Store, Orwell Gas N Go and at the town clerk’s office during regular business hours. Drop off bags from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be a raffle for kids who turn in bags on May 7. Coordinator: Cindy Watrous, 948-2751.
Panton. Bags can be picked up at the Panton Town Hall and at the town garage on Green Up Day. Return bags to the town garage. Coordinator: Louise Giovanella, 759-2529.
Ripton. Pick up bags at the Ripton Country Store or at the town office, Monday through Saturday during regular business hours. Bags can be dropped off at the Ripton town shed or left on the roadside, May 6-10. Coordinator: Warren King, 388-4082.
Salisbury. Volunteers can pick up bags at the Kampersville General Store on Green Up Day, 8-10 a.m. Bags can be left along main roads in Salisbury on Green Up Day or taken to the Salisbury landfill during regular business hours. Coordinator: Christine Turner, 352-4778.
Shoreham. Bags are available at the town clerk’s office, Platt Memorial Library and town garbage and recycling drop-off center. On Green Up Day, bags available at the fire station. Drop-off location on Green Up Day is the red barn next to the fire station, 9 a.m.-noon. Scrap metal will also be accepted. Coordinator: Brie Patterson, 897-2840.
Starksboro. Volunteers can pick up bags on Green Up Day at the Jerusalem Corners Country Store, the town garage and the town clerk’s office. Return bags to the town garage. Coordinator: Marcia Perry, 434-2462.
Vergennes. Bags are available leading up to Green Up Day at Vergennes City Hall during regular business hours or on Green Up Day at Vergennes City Park, 8 a.m.-noon. Volunteers are asked to leave bags along the roadside on Green Up Day. Coordinator: Lowell Bertrand, 877-6960.
Waltham. Green Up bags will be available starting May 3 in the shed on the north side of Waltham Town Hall. Return bags to the shed on Green Up Day. Coordinator: Town Clerk Mary Ann Castimore, 877-3641.
Weybridge. Bags available all week at the Weybridge Recycling Center. Volunteers are asked to indicate their chosen clean-up area on the map. Bags should be left by the side of the road on Green Up Day, out of the lanes of traffic. Hot dogs and doughnuts will be available on Green Up Day at the Weybridge Congregational Church, 9-11 a.m. Coordinator: Megan Sutton, 545-2475.
Whiting. Pick up bags at the town clerk’s office during regular business hours or by calling the Green Up coordinator. Take bags to the town shed on Green Up Day or leave them along the roadside. Coordinator: Becky Bertrand, 623-6325.
