In boys’ tennis, Tigers make it look easy

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ tennis team coasted to three wins late last week and improved to 4-0.
On Thursday, the Tigers defeated visiting Harwood, 6-1. In individual matches:
•  At No. 1 singles, Nick Holmes (M) defeated Colin Tennelly (H), 6-2, 7-5.
•  At No. 2 singles, Jon Fitzcharles (M) defeated Bergan Allison (H), 6-4, 7-6.
•  At No. 3 singles, Payton Randolph (H) defeated Owen Hammel (M), 6-3, 6-3.
•  At No. 4 singles, Ziven McCarty (M) defeated Noah Eckstein (H), 6-0, 6-2.
•  At No. 5 singles, Jesse Rubin (M) defeated Thomas Reisken (H), 3-6, 6-1, 1-0.
•  At No. 1 doubles, Ben Silver and Max Mayone (M) defeated Ben Read and Conner Delaney (H), 6-4, 6-4.
•  At No. 2 doubles, Joao Pedro Ribeiro and Ronan Howlett (M) defeated Asher Martley and Harrison Davis (H), 2-6, 6-4, 1-0.
On Friday, the Tigers blanked visiting North Country, 7-0:
•  At No. 1 singles, Fitzcharles (M) defeated Corey Davis (NC), 7-5, 6-0.
•  At No. 2 singles, Holmes (M) defeated Nathan Grimm (NC), 6-1, 6-0.
•  At No. 3 singles, McCarty (M) defeated John DeRoehn (NC), 6-1, 6-0.
•  At No. 4 singles, Hammel (M) defeated Cody Raboin (NC), 6-0, 6-1.
•  At No. 5 singles, Ribeiro (M) defeated Nick Bliss (NC), 6-1, 6-3.
Both doubles teams won by forfeit.
On Saturday, the Tigers blanked host BFA-St. Albans, 7-0:
•  At No. 1 singles, Holmes (M) defeated Laurent Gagne (BFA), 7-5, 7-6.
•  At No. 2 singles, Fitzcharles (M) defeated Logan Mapes (BFA), 6-4, 7-6.
•  At No. 3 singles, Hammel (M) defeated Kristian Zivtiovic, (BFA) 7-6, 6-2.
•  At No. 4 singles, McCarty (M) defeated Tyler Jobber (BFA), 6-2, 6-0.
•  At No. 5 singles, Ruben won by forfeit.
•  At No. 1 doubles, Silver and Mayone (M) defeated Logan Biijole and Davey Bovens (BFA), 6-4, 6-1.
•  At No. 2 doubles, Ryan Miller and Jed Danforth (M) defeated Partier Lambert and Kevin Yeung, (BFA), 6-1, 2-6, 1-0.
