MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Energy Committee will be presenting the 2016 Sustainability Expo on Saturday, May 14, at Middlebury Union Middle School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sustainability Expo builds on the success of the previous 2015 Sustainable Living Expo, which was attended by over 500 residents and local businesspeople.
The Sustainability Expo is currently seeking demonstrations, exhibitors and children’s activities for its Exhibit Hall from companies and organizations that offer products, services and support for sustainable living, including renewable energy, green building and design, gardening, farming, integrative health, local foods, herbalism, community transportation, healthy ecosystems and community building. Rates are $185 for a 10-foot-by-10-foot space, $135 for an 8-foot-by-10-foot space, and $70 for nonprofits sharing a table. Exhibitors will be listed in the Program Guide/Resource Directory and on the expo website.
The Sustainability Expo needs volunteers to help set up the Exhibit Hall, check in exhibitors, greet participants, post lawn signs and posters, and monitor the workshops. Volunteers receive free admission and free coffee and tea. Elizabeth Golden-Pidgeon, the expo’s executive director, says, “As a volunteer, you get to meet many people who share your enthusiasm and commitment to being self-sufficient, eating healthy, local food and living in a sustainable way. You can feel the ‘buzz’ of networking with so many like-minded people at the expo.”
