Middlebury professor to offer update on climate change
MIDDLEBURY — Rich Wolfson, Benjamin F. Wissler Professor of Physics at Middlebury College, presents “Global Warming: Update 2016” at Ilsley Library in Middlebury on Wednesday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m.
The Fifth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change represents the latest global consensus on the state of Earth’s climate. But in the few years since IPCC 5 was published, a host of new scientific studies suggest that the threat of global warming may be greater than anticipated in the IPCC report. Wolfson’s talk will review the latest evidence for global climate change, explain why the observed warming results largely from human activities, and explore future climate scenarios.
This talk is sponsored by the Addison County Retired Teachers Association, which will hold its annual meeting at 10 a.m. before the talk.
