Opinion: ANwSU director reflects on pulses

I’m writing to express my appreciation to the residents of Addison, Ferrisburgh, Panton, Vergennes and Waltham. It was my pleasure to serve as a director of Vergennes Union High School for the past three years, and as chair of the Addison Northwest Supervisory Union Board for the past two.
Working together, with the expertise of other hard-working board members and the broad support of our community, we have made great progress. There are first-rate leaders in place at both VUHS and ANwSU. We have improved practices that directly affect student learning opportunities, enhanced the efficiency and accountability of our current systems, and importantly, invested significant time and effort to plan for the future.
The facilities at VUHS are in sound condition, and we have now funded a capital reserve for 3 consecutive years. Town Meeting Day saw the approval of the VUHS FY ’17 budget and overwhelming support for creating a unified school district. These are significant achievements.
Thank you for those votes of confidence and for your support of public education in our community.
