Otter Valley girls’ hoop team slips past Windsor
WINDSOR — The Otter Valley Union High School girls’ basketball team closed out its regular season on Friday by eking out a 38-36 win at Windsor.
The results unofficially pegged the 8-12 Otters as the No. 13 seed for the Division II tournament. The Vermont Principals’ Association was set to release pairings on Monday morning. If that is the case, the Otters will apparently meet a familiar foe in the first round — No. 4 Fair Haven (15-5). The Slaters defeated OV twice this winter, 41-27 and 32-21.
On Friday, Gabby Poalino (10 points) and Maia Edmunds (eight) led the OV scoring vs. Windsor (9-11) in the Otters’ eighth game decided by six points or fewer. OV won five of them.
The Otters arguably played the most challenging schedule among local teams, playing 10 games either against D-II top-four seeds, D-IV top three seeds, or D-I teams that won at least nine games.
