Opinion: Seeley a wise choice for selectboard
I write to ask for your vote for Heather Seeley for Middlebury selectboard. Heather is a woman of integrity who would work extremely hard for the citizens of Middlebury. She has spent the past two years since her first run for selectboard becoming meaningfully engaged in important town issues. She is a member of the town’s Public Works Committee, which oversees most of Middlebury’s infrastructure needs, and an active alternate to the Middlebury Development Review Board, the quasi-judicial body that reviews individual development proposals.
She regularly attends selectboard and school board meetings, ensuring that she is well informed about an array of public policy issues under deliberation. Through all of these efforts, Heather has gained important knowledge of both the town’s needs as well as the process necessary for a fair assessment of an issue or proposal. She is also deeply committed to collaboration and multi-faceted approaches.
Heather listens and thoughtfully considers the many angles of an issue, and acts to do what is best for our town as a whole. She believes that all people deserve fair and equal treatment, regardless of their status, resources or connections. As a businesswoman and mother of young children, Heather understands the multiple pressures and opportunities families face in our community, and would be a strong advocate for working families and children. She would bring creative ideas, pragmatic leadership, and common sense to the table. Heather is deeply committed to the history, economy, and natural resources of our town, and would work hard to preserve them for the benefit of us all.
As a woman and a mother of young children, Heather is the only candidate that represents a demographic that is important to the diversity and continued vitality of our town. I ask you to support Heather Seeley for Middlebury selectboard. Don’t forget to vote early, absentee or at the polls on Town Meeting Day, Tuesday, March 1. Thank you.
