Middlebury College Museum of Art seeks nominations

MIDDLEBURY — Each year the Friends of the Middlebury College Museum of Art recognize students, artists, teachers and leaders in the visual arts who live or work in Addison County for distinction in the visual arts. This recognition program encourages appreciation of the visual arts in the community by recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions, either through creative achievement or support of the visual arts, and it furthers the museum’s mission to enrich the educational and cultural environment of Vermont.
This year, and in even-numbered years, awards will be given to adults in the community in two categories: 1) professional or amateur artist, craftsperson, or teacher; and 2) benefactor, volunteer and/or organization. Next year, and in odd-numbered years, awards will be given to schoolchildren whose work is included in county-wide “Spring into the Arts” exhibitions in Middlebury, Bristol and Vergennes. Each year a Middlebury College student will be recognized for outstanding work in or support of the visual arts.
Members of the community are encouraged to nominate residents of Addison County for an arts award in any of the above categories. Nominations can be made via the museum’s online submission form, which can found, along with other information about the awards, on the museum’s website at http://museum.middlebury.edu/news/awards. The deadline for submission of nominations is Friday, March 18.
Questions about the annual Arts Awards program can be directed to Mikki Lane, coordinator of events, at (802) 443-2309.
