Opinion: Paper’s reporting unprofessional

I am writing to express my concern about your reporting on the shooting at the Church of the Nazarene in Leicester.
Reporting that bullets were fired at a church is certainly an appropriate news article. It is, however, inappropriate of you to speculate about who fired the bullets based on a similar recent incident. It is more inappropriate for you to name that person and give identifying details.
The state police stated that they had not concluded their investigation, although they were looking into whether the two cases are connected. The police acted professionally. I would hope that your newspaper would do the same in the future.
