Maiden Vermont to hold annual Guest Night, Feb. 25

SALISBURY — Maiden Vermont, central Vermont’swomen’s barbershop chorus, is holding its annual Guest Night on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Salisbury elementary school. Women who like to sing, can sing on pitch and can carry their own part are invited to come, make music, and meet and mingle with members of the chorus.
The evening begins with light dancing warm-ups. After some vocal warm-ups, the group will rehearse under its energetic director, Lindi Bortney.
All singing ages are welcome; current membership ranges from 20-somethings to grandmothers. Members hail from as far south as Middletown Springs and as far north as Colchester.
Maiden Vermont performs music that is barbershop in harmony, but is not limited to “Lida Rose.” From doo-wop to the Beatles to Broadway and beyond — even country — this group will tackle almost anything. Members say they have an enormous amount of fun, and the music they make reflects that and the expert musicianship of their director.
