Man jailed again, this time on stalking charge

SALISBURY — A man charged with threatening employees with a gun at a Leicester scrap yard two weeks ago was arrested on Feb. 4 after violating an unrelated “no stalking” order in Salisbury.
Vermont State Police arrested Kadia Barenbaum, 56, of East Middlebury after responding to a trespassing complaint on Shard Villa Road in Salisbury just before noon this past Thursday.
State police said that when they arrived at the Shard Villa Road address, Barenbaum was in the process of leaving the property. The property owner informed police that he had a final no stalking order against Barenbaum, who was then arrested and lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland.
On Dec. 18, 2015, Roger Stone, 72, called police to his home on Shard Villa Road in Salisbury at about 11 p.m. Stone allegedly told the dispatcher that he shot at Barenbaum with a pistol in his driveway after asking him to leave numerous times. Stone was released and faces a reckless endangerment charge. Barenbaum was not charged in that incident.
On Jan. 21, Barenbaum was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reckless endangerment after allegedly threatening the owner and employees of Brandon Scrap Metal with a .45 caliber handgun on Jan. 20. He pleaded innocent to the charges and was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland.
Judge Samuel Hoar set bail at $2,500; after posting bail, Barenbaum was released with conditions. Those conditions included staying at least 100 yards away from Brandon Scrap Metal, not to contact or approach the owner or the employees, and not to buy or possess firearms.
According to officials at MVCF, following his Feb. 4 arrest, Barenbaum was released the next day on court conditions. No bail was enforced.
