McGuire accepts position at SchoolHack Solutions

BRISTOL — SchoolHack Solutions of Bristol announces the hiring of Ed McGuire to its management team of educational professionals. The company is currently offering its LiFT personalized learning platform to schools throughout the country.
“We are excited to have Ed as part of our management team” says David Lipkin, CEO of SchoolHack Solutions. “Ed understands the needs of schools as they shift to competency-based education and personalized learning and was one of the first authors and builders of this movement throughout the state as well as the country.”
McGuire served on the Vermont Framework of Standards, and in 1999 on the original High Schools on the Move task force. High Schools on the Move produced 12 principles of personalized learning which, in turn, became the basis for Act 77 — the Vermont Agency of Education mandate requiring all schools to offer students in grades seven through 12 flexible pathways to graduation.
A graduate of St. Michael’s College, McGuire taught math and science for more than 20 years at the middle and high school levels as well as holding the position of director of guidance at Mt. Abraham Union High School. While there, McGuire created the Horizons Department — a program of personalized learning opportunities for students including independent studies, senior projects, internships, and dual-enrollment in colleges for high school credit. McGuire also created two middle school courses and one high school course focused on student goal-setting, connecting students to potential careers and college after graduation, as well as helping students create portfolios of “best work” for college and job applications.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the LiFT team” says McGuire. “This platform is the vehicle through which all students have the opportunity to follow their interests and passions and teachers and schools can offer educational outcomes not previously available. LiFT is by far the best personalized learning platform in the country. I am looking forward to helping schools implement this into their educational frameworks.”
McGuire and his wife currently live in New Haven where he is active on a number of community and school boards and is the co-coach with his wife of the Mount Abraham rowing team. McGuire will work alongside David Lipkin and Josie Jordan, co-founders of LiFT, to bring this exciting software to schools and organizations throughout the country.
