ADDISON COUNTY — Mount Abraham won its second straight road game to highlight girls’ basketball play in the latter half of last week. In other action, Otter Valley split a pair of home games, while Vergennes lost a road contest.

EAGLES
On Wednesday, the Eagles posted a wire-to-wire win at Milton, 46-34. The Eagles built a 28-14 lead at the half and stretched it to 37-20 after three periods. Balanced scoring helped Mount Abe improve to 3-7. Emma Carter led the way with 13 points, while Emma LaRose (eight), Emma Radler andDani Forand (seven apiece), and Jalen Cook (six) also contributed. Milton, coming off road wins at MUHS and VUHS, dropped to 3-6.
Coach Connie LaRose said the young Eagles might be rounding into form.
“We’ve had two really solid games in a row,” LaRose said.
OTTERS
On Wednesday, the Otters overcame a 32-23 deficit after three periods to defeat visiting Springfield, 48-40, in overtime. Amy Jones scored the hoop in the paint that tied the game at 38-38 and forced overtime, and she led all scorers with 21 points. Sophia Bloomer (10 points) and Gabby Poalino (nine) chipped in offensively for the Otters.
On Friday, visiting Hartford earned at 42-34 win over the Otters, a result that left both teams at 5-5. Jones (11 points) and Maia Edmunds (10) led all scorers in the game.
COMMODORES
On Wednesday, host Mount Mansfield knocked off the Commodores, 37-26. Nikki Salley (10 points) and Tamara Aunchman (eight) led VUHS, which dropped to 5-4 heading into Saturday’s home game vs. The Tigers.
