Slater girls top Tigers in hoop
MIDDLEBURY — Visiting Fair Haven used strong defense on Monday to defeat the Middlebury Union High School girls’ basketball team, 49-24.
The Tigers dropped to 4-5 with their fourth setback in five outings and will look to bounce back at Vergennes on Saturday morning. The Slaters improved to 6-3.
Fair Haven led by just 7-5 after the first period, but began to pull away by halftime, when the score read 20-10 in the Slaters’ favor.
Lexi Quenneville hit three treys and scored 15 points to lead Fair Haven’s attack, and Kelsi Bean added 10 for the Slaters. Keagan Dunbar tallied a team-high 10 points for Middlebury.
