ADDISON COUNTY — Mount Abraham broke through for a big victory to highlight local high school girls’ basketball in games played this past Friday. In other action, Middlebury lost at home in overtime, and Otter Valley and Vergennes dropped road contests.
EAGLES
The Eagles used a big first half in rolling to a 49-23 victory at Mount Mansfield. By intermission, Mount Abe had already built a 25-9 lead. Emma Carter led the attack with 22 points and Jalen Cook added nine as Mount Abe improved to 2-7 and snapped a five-game losing streak. The host Cougars fell to 2-6. 
TIGERS
Visiting Milton eked out a 44-41 overtime victory over the Tigers when the Yellowjackets’ Megan Reilly hit the winning three-pointer with 21 seconds left in the extra session. Regulation had finished in a 37-37 tie. Milton improved to 3-5.
Keagan Dunbar (15 points) and Hannah Buttolph (nine) led the attack for the 4-4 Tigers.
OTTERS
Host Division I foe Rutland pulled away late in the third and early in the fourth quarter to deal the Otters their first loss in five outings, 33-22. The 5-6 Raiders’ surge began when they led by just 18-17 late in the third period of the defensive struggle. Julia Lee andAmy Jones scored six points apiece for the Otters, who dropped back to 4-4.      
COMMODORES
The Commodores held a 28-26 advantage over host North Country entering the fourth quarter, but the Falcons then took charge and outscored VUHS the rest of the way by 27-7 and won, 53-35. Falcon Kylie Wright scored 12 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter to spark the 2-6 Falcons. Sarah Poirier-Thayer led the 5-3 Commodores with 13 points, and Nikki Salley added 11.
