Armed men rob Leicester store

LEICESTER — Vermont State Police are searching for three suspects in an alleged armed robbery at the Champlain Beverage store on Route 7 in Leicester this past Saturday night.
Police said three men entered the store at around 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 9 and, while displaying a handgun, ordered the clerk to get on the floor. While the clerk was face down, the suspects removed the contents from the cash drawer. One of the suspects also helped himself to “several” cartons of cigarettes — one of which he dropped on the southeast side of the store parking lot, according to police. Police said they are studying the cigarette carton for possible fingerprints.
The clerk was not harmed during commission of the crime, according to police, who described the suspects as being white men of a medium build, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, wearing dark-colored, hooded shirts. One suspect was described as having acne on his face, according to police.
Authorities are not sure what kind of vehicle the robbers used in the crime.
Police offered no details on the amount of money stolen from the store.
