Tiger runner to compete Down Under; seeks support
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Union High School sophomore Chloe Kane has been selected to compete in the Down Under Sports East Conference Track and Field meet in Australia next summer.
As a freshman last spring, Kane was a member of the MUHS girls’ 4x100m relay squad that won the Division II state championship, and also placed fifth in the state in the 100 meter race, and 11th in the 200. She also finished in the top 5 in the 100m and 200m in USATF New England Junior Olympic Championships in Fitchburg, Mass., the past two summers and also competed in the Junior Olympics in Houston in 2014.
Kane, who earned Honorable Mention on the MUHS honor roll for the first quarter of this year, will be doing some fundraising activities in the coming months to pay for her trip to Australia. One event that has been finalized is set for Feb. 13 at Two Brothers Tavern and will include The Horse Traders band.
