Tiger boys’ hockey rallies past hartford, now 4-0

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team rallied from a two-goal deficit on Friday to defeat visiting Hartford, 5-3, and remain undefeated at 4-0.
The 2-2 Hurricanes got a first-period goal from Kyle Weeks and a strike at 7:08 of the second from Nate Lemieux.
The Tigers got on the board 19 seconds after Lemieux’s goal when freshman Henry Hodde tallied his first career goal, with assists going to Andrew Gleason and Colton Leno.
At 3:49 of the third, Krystian Gombosi equalized with an assist from Hodde. Brett Viens scored back-to-back goals at 8:20 and 10:00 to make it 4-2, with Brian Kiernan and Jake Peluso assisting the first and Gombosi setting up the second.
Hartford’s Ben Rouillard scored a power-play goal with 12 seconds to go, and Leno capped the scoring with an empty-netter eight seconds later.
Hartford goalie Richie Morrill made 12 saves, and the Tigers’ Doug DeLorenzo stopped nine shots.
The Tigers are on the road this week, with games at Lake Placid on Monday and Rutland on Wednesday. Their annual holiday tournament comes to the Memorial Sports Center next Monday and Tuesday, with games against Northeast Clinton (N.Y.) and Lake Placid, both at 7 p.m.
