MUHS girls’ hockey falls on the road

NORTHFIELD — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team lost its first two games of the year last week, both on the road to fellow Division I contenders.
The 3-2-1 Tigers will play at Saranac Lake, N.Y., this Tuesday. Their annual holiday tournament comes to the Memorial Sports Center next Monday and Tuesday, with games against Spaulding and Northfield, respectively, both at 5 p.m.

The Comets then scored the first two goals of the third period, from Aliza Ellis and Erin Tully, before Tajah Marsden made it 4-2 with 6:50 to go. But McKenna Remillard and Riley Yandow closed out the game with goals for BFA.
Comet goalie Jessica Giroux stopped 17 shots, and Rowan Hendy made 19 saves for the Tigers.
On Saturday, host Northfield improved to 5-0 by blanking the Tigers, 3-0.
Northfield’s Catherine Miles scored first, at 8:36 of the second, and in the period added a five-on-three power-play goal from Lindsey Bergeron. Courtney Amell added a third-period goal.
