Vermont State Police Log for Dec. 17

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police operating out of the New Haven barracks did not have much to report in the past week.
On Dec. 9, Sgt. Badger issued a press release noting that state police were contacted regarding a mailbox and trees that were damaged at a residence along River Road in Bristol the previous evening. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 a vehicle traveling westbound went off the road, struck a mailbox and damaged around six trees on the property. Troopers located several vehicle parts at the scene belonging to a Ford Ranger pickup truck.
A suspect has not been identified. Anyone with information on this incident is asked contact Sgt. Badger at the VSP’s New Haven barracks at 802-388-4919.
Also on Dec. 9, state police partially closed Route 7 in Ferrisburgh at the Jiffy Mart/McDonald’s complex at around 9 p.m. while personnel from the Ferrisburgh and Vergennes fire departments fought a fire at 802 Performance, a business across the road. The road was shut for less than an hour. A full story appeared in Monday’s Independent.
On Dec. 10 at approximately 6:30 p.m., police got a report of an assault at a Middlebrook Road home in Ferrisburgh. The victim arrived to the New Haven barracks to report that he had been assaulted by 51-year-old Ferrisburgh resident Sonya Hamner. After investigating, police took Hamner into custody, cited her for domestic assault, and jailed her at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $1,000 bail.
