County boys’ hoop teams fall short
ADDISON COUNTY — Local high school boys’ basketball teams all came up short in action in the latter half of last week.
OTTERS
Host Mill River earned a 78-67 victory over Otter Valley on Friday. MRU (2-1) led at the half by 35-26 and then outscored OV by 26-17 in the third period to take charge. MRU’s Mike Morgan finished with a game-high 23.
OV’s Dylan Mackie hit four three-pointers and scored 16 points, and MacGregor Shannon also sank four treys to finish with 12. Derek Aines added nine points as OV’s record evened at 1-1 headed into a Tuesday home game with Mount Abraham.
COMMODORES
On Thursday, visiting BFA-Fairfax used a big first half to knock off the Commodores, 65-50. The Bullets placed three players in double figures and led at the break, 33-16.
Adam Gill recorded a game-high 19 points for the 1-2 Commodores, and Dylan Bradford chipped in 10.
EAGLES
On Thursday, visiting Winooski bolted to a 35-14 halftime lead on the way to a 64-38 victory over the Eagles. Jackson Counter led Mount Abe with eight points, while Sean Callahan poured in 25 for the Spartans. Mount Abe will bring an 0-4 record to OV on Tuesday and will be seeking to avenge an earlier loss to the Otters.
TIGERS
On Wednesday, visiting Mount Anthony took a 48-28 halftime lead in an 82-56 victory over the Tigers. Jason Parker scored 32 for the 2-0 Patriots. Four players reached double figures for the 0-3 Tigers: Nick Holmes andRyan Miller (14 each), Trey Kaufmann (12), and Jonathan Fitzcharles (10).
