Handbell concert tour to stop in Bristol

BRISTOL — “Ring Joyful Bells” is the theme of Northern Bronze’s January handbell concert series. Northern Bronze is a community based ensemble bringing the art of handbells to exciting new levels. Members of Northern Bronze come from all over northwestern Vermont, and includes two members, Florence and Roland Livingston, who live in Bristol. This group of musicians has played at many memorable venues including Burlington’s First Night; Farmers’ Night at the Vermont Statehouse in Montpelier, where musical groups are sponsored by State Representatives to perform directly in the House of Representatives chamber; and in towns all across northern Vermont.
Northern Bronze is currently in rehearsal, getting ready for its winter season, and will perform a series of three concerts. Once the bustle of the holidays is over, come relax and enjoy familiar winter favorites such as “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Fum, Fum, Fum,” and “The Skaters’ Waltz,” played by this five-octave community ensemble.
The lineup of three performances begins on Friday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 273 Vermont Route 15, in Jericho; Saturday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. at All Souls Interfaith Gathering, 291 Bostwick Farm Road, in Shelburne; and Sunday, Jan. 10, at 3 p.m. at Middlebury Congregational Church, 2 Main St., in Middlebury. Admission for each of the concerts is $12 for adults and $8 for children.
Bristol’s Have a Heart Food Shelf will offer food distribution on Friday, Dec. 18, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the 11 School St. entrance of St. Ambrose Catholic Church next to the Bristol town green. Ham baskets will be available also. For more information or to volunteer or donate, contact Rebecca at 453-3187 or Eldon at 453-3189.
