Basketball: Tiger girls win; boys’ teams, Otter girls fall
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school basketball action earlier this week, only the Middlebury girls picked up a win, as the Vergennes and Mount Abraham boys and the Otter Valley girls came up short. Other teams were idle.
TIGER GIRLS
The MUHS girls coasted to a 44-24 victory over host Missisquoi on Monday. The Tigers took a 28-10 halftime lead on the way to evening their record at 1-1. Keagan Dunbar paced MUHS with 25 points.
VUHS BOYS
On Tuesday, visiting Lake Region posted a 66-49 decision over the Commodore boys. Lake Region led at every checkpoint, including 34-25 at the half. Riley Urie led three Rangers in double figures with 18 points.
Josh Lorrain scored 10 points for the Commodores, who dropped to 1-2.
EAGLE BOYS
On Monday, visiting Fair Haven improved to 2-0 by cruising past the Eagle boys, 80-35. Darren Brown (20), Lucas Czarnecki (13) and Cam Coloutti (11) combined for 44 points for the Slaters.
The Eagles, led by Jackson Counter’s 11 points, dropped to 0-3.
OV GIRLS
Also on Monday, host West Rutland (2-0) posted a 45-34 victory over the Otter girls. West Rutland led throughout and by 25-18 at the half.
Amy Jones andSophie Bloomer scored eight points apiece to pace the 0-2 Otters.
