‘Our Song’ art exhibit celebrates open spaces

MIDDLEBURY — Edgewater Gallery announces its joint December exhibition: “Hannah Sessions and Greg Bernhardt — Our Song.” The gallery will host an opening reception on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 4-6 p.m. Light Refreshments will be served.
This show celebrates the relationship Sessions and Bernhardt share with the land as both artists and farmers. Their pieces depict farms up close and from afar to capture everyday moments on their farm and the farms of their friends and neighbors, and the great tradition of agriculture in the Champlain Valley.
Hay down in a field, animals headed out to pasture, shadows on a barn, a flock of curious chickens, a goat basking in late afternoon light, long shadows stretching across a field; simple, ordinary, close-up, fleeting moments that resonate. The vast expanse of land as seen from the top of nearby Snake Mountain, Buck Mountain, and Mt Abe, as well as the view of distant farms as seen from the roads. Farms keep land open and give incredible vistas, playgrounds of light and provide abundant subject matter for these painters of farms.
In the spirit of the holiday season, Sessions is offering up a painting for raffle. Edgewater Gallery will sell tickets, with all proceeds to benefit the Vermont Food Bank. Last year the food bank provided over 1,200 meals to those in need and organizers hope to make an even bigger impact this year. Raffle tickets will go on sale for $20 each on Tuesday, Dec. 1, and will be available until winning names are drawn on Wednesday, Dec. 23 — just in time to make a spectacular holiday gift for a loved one.
“Our Song” will be on view at Edgewater Gallery at Middlebury Falls in December. For more information call 802-458-0098, email [email protected] or visit edgewatergallery-vt.com.
