Opinion: State should mandate paid sick leave for all workers

I am writing to express my support for paid sick days for all workers in Vermont.
There are nearly 100,000 Vermonters who don’t receive any paid sick leave. People need a minimum standard of earned leave to use to take care of their own health and the health of their families. Everyone deserves a chance to recover. Being able to rest when ill and come back to work at full capacity without the stigma of “Well, you weren’t here yesterday…” would be a huge relief for me and many of my coworkers.
I urge my senators, Christopher Bray and Claire Ayer, to pass the Healthy Workplaces Bill when they return to Montpelier this January, for the benefit of all working Vermonters.
Lauren Andrews, Bristol
