Opinion: Mahe’s generosity recalled on eve of Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches I remember Michel Mahé, the restaurateur who passed away last summer, for his kindness and generosity.
Although I did not know him personally, I met him on several Thanksgiving mornings at the Black Sheep Bistro where I would pick up a Thanksgiving dinner he prepared to deliver to a local family. Michel would insist that the meal go to a family with young children and was especially proud of the marshmallow Jell-O ambrosia he lovingly included for their discerning taste.
Michel Mahé contributed to our community in many ways and as cooking was his passion, this gift a meal came from his heart. As we gather around the Thanksgiving table to celebrate our abundance, friends and family ask, “What can I bring?” Each of us has a gift to offer as a gesture of gratitude to give back to our community. What will you bring?
