‘Nutcracker Adventure’ returns for 2015 season
MIDDLEBURY — A Middlebury holiday tradition is once again singing and dancing its way into town at the Middlebury Union High School auditorium during the “Very Merry Middlebury Weekend” Dec. 4-6. Middlebury Community Players Foundations presents “The Nutcracker’s Adventure,” a new retelling of the original “Nutcracker” story in musical form.
Appropriate for all ages, this children’s musical theater production includes Tchaikovsky’s famous music, with lyrics and choreography by Nancy Wollum and a new script and stage direction by Sarah Stone.
“It’s so charming, the lyrics and music are clever, and it’s perfect for the whole family,” said MCP board member Mary Longey. “With tickets only $6, don’t let the holiday season pass you by without including this show in your family’s fun festivities this year.”
The cast of 26 includes Anna McIntosh as Marie, Tristan Woods as Fritz/The Mouse King, Jason Poppenga as the Prince, Claire Carpenter as Mother/The Queen, Christopher Ross as Father/The King, and Kevin Commins as Drosselmeyer. For a full cast list and more information, visit middleburycommunityplayers.org.
Tickets are $6 for all seats at Middlebury Union High School auditorium. Shows are Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5, at 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. Running time is about 90 minutes including a 15-minute intermission — a perfect introduction to theater for young children. Refreshments will be available for sale, to benefit the MCP Scholarship Fund.
For tickets, call the Town Hall Theater Box Office at 802-382-9222; stop by Monday-Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.; or go online anytime to www.townhalltheater.org.
