Middlebury Police Log: Woman cited for debit card fraud

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Rachael L. Carter, 20, of Middlebury for the alleged theft of, and fraudulent use of, a debit card at a local business on Nov. 11. Carter is scheduled to answer to the charge at the Addison County Courthouse on Dec. 28.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with an overdose patient in the Lower Foote Street area on Nov. 10.
• Took into protective custody a drunken man who was allegedly bothering some tenants at a North Pleasant Street apartment building on Nov. 10. Police ultimately transferred custody of the man to a sober friend.
• Responded to a report of a student leaving the Champlain Valley Academy without permission on Nov. 10.
• Were informed on Nov. 10 about a Middlebury Union High School student who had not been attending classes.
• Received a report that an iPod had been stolen from a Seminary Street residence on Nov. 10.
• Responded to a noise complaint in the South Village Green neighborhood on Nov. 11.
• Assisted an East Middlebury resident who reported receiving some threatening text messages on Nov. 12.
• Assisted Williston police in the search for a damaged vehicle that might have been involved in a crime on Nov. 12. Police said they were unable to find the vehicle.
• Removed some animal remains from the roadway on Route 7 South on Nov. 12.
• Received a report about a truck-versus-deer accident at the intersection of Cady Road and Case Street on Nov. 12.
• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a medical call on the Middlebury College campus on Nov. 13.
• Received a report that a black, Sony A37 SLR camera had been taken from MUHS on Nov. 13.
• Investigated a crash on College Street on Nov. 13 in which one of the vehicles fled the scene, according to police. Authorities don’t have any suspects at this time.
• Investigated a report of a possible drunken driver on School House Hill Road on Nov. 14.
• Investigated a theft complaint at Kinney Drugs on Court Street on Nov. 14. The investigation continues.
• Responded to a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at a Peterson Terrace residence on Nov. 14. Both parties agreed to work out their issues, police said.
• Issued court diversion paperwork to two young men found to be possession of alcohol near the town green on Nov. 14.
• Issued court diversion paperwork to a man who allegedly violated the town’s ordinance against public urination in the Court Square area on Nov. 14.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a Court Street apartment on Nov. 15. Police said the tenant was playing loud music and agreed to turn down the volume.
• Assisted Vermont State Police in responding to a family fight on Morgan Road in Salisbury on Nov. 15.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a North Pleasant Street residence on Nov. 15. Police said a tenant was playing loud music on a radio.
