Hospice honors those who work with the dying

MIDDLEBURY — November is a time to honor the thousands of personal care attendants, home care aides, nurses, social workers and therapists who make a positive difference in the lives of patients and their families. These special caregivers have an important role in homes across the country as well as in our health care system. National Home Care and Hospice Month is an ideal time to raise awareness about the importance of home care services and celebrate the Addison County Home Health & Hospice (ACHHH) team.
“It is highly appropriate in November that we celebrate the nurses, therapists, aides and other providers who choose to use their lives to serve our country’s aged, disabled and dying,” said Chuck Burdick, ACHHH board president. “No work is nobler, and no group is more deserving of our respect and admiration. Their goal is helping society’s weakest members live the fullest lives they can. Home care and hospice professionals allow patients to get care at home where they can be with the ones they love.”
Addison County Home Health & Hospice provides quality, comprehensive home health care services. Through personalized, patient-centered care received from home care professionals, patients better understand and manage their medical conditions in the comfort of their home. The ACHHH team offers skilled care, including nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapists, home health aides and licensed medical social worker, as well as support such as housekeeping, errands and assistance with bathing.
“We encourage the community to learn more about Addison County Home Health & Hospice and the services that are offered,” says Clinical Director Sherry Greifzu, RN, MSN, AOCN. “We provide services ranging from basic assistance with daily living to advanced medical treatments. All of our home health care and hospice staff and volunteers know people are healthier and happier when they can remain independent at home. Care is received in the very best place … at home.”
